Travelling Irrigator Monitor

Travelling Irrigators have the potential to cause a lot of problems environmentally and with the local councils for farm owners.

Ensuring that they do not continue to spread Dairy Effluent when they reach the end of a run, the wire cable breaks, when pipes uncouple, they get too close to waterways etc is a must!

TracMap, an Otago based company, provides a monitor that can address these problems. Already there are councils in New Zealand where these are compulsory if you use a travelling irrigator.

How it Works

A GPS and sensors are mounted on the Travelling Irrigator, with wireless linkage back to a controller linked to the pump switch mechanism. Whenever the pump is turned on, it monitors the speed of the irrigator.

If the irrigator is moving too slowly or stops, it
  • Shuts down the pump
  • Powers a warning strobe light on top of the shed (or any other appropriate place)
  • Sends a txt warning message (TMi28)
  • Periodically sends a coverage map update to the TracMap mapping system, which provides permanent storage and 24hr availability
